The Belgian sprinter has once again impressed at the Tour of Guangxi. Two days after his first victory, he claimed another sprint win, continuing to show outstanding form towards the end of the season. It is his second UCI WorldTour victory, his fifth win of the season and Cofidis’ 18th in 2026!
This time, he took the time to raise both arms and savour the moment a little longer. Two days earlier, Milan Fretin had simply tapped his helmet. This time, he stood up and made a V sign to savour the thrill of victory a little more. The Belgian sprinter once again got the better of his rivals in the sprint. The team had worked hard throughout the day to put him in the best possible position.
In the closing stages, he proved to be the smartest rider, spectacularly demonstrating his positioning skills and ability to deliver a sharp acceleration at the right moment. He is keen to point out that he has taken a step forward since the Tour de France, where he collected a series of top-ten finishes (fourth in Nevers, fifth in Chalon-sur-Saône and ninth in Paris). His outstanding form has therefore earned him a second UCI WorldTour victory and his fifth win of the season. Cofidis have now recorded 18 victories this year!

Milan Fretin:
“It’s incredible! It’s hard to believe that I’ve just won my second race of the week and my second UCI WorldTour victory! We knew there was an opportunity to contest the sprint, and the team controlled things really well right to the end. All my team-mates came together in the final kilometres. I was well positioned, which allowed me to launch my sprint well. I started it a little early, but I managed to make the difference at the right moment. I really feel that I’ve reached this level as the season has progressed. I’ve always worked hard to do my best and win at UCI WorldTour level. Coming here, even though I had taken another step forward, I still had a slight sense of unfinished business. Something was missing. To have victories to show for it is absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to finish the season!”
Benjamin Giraud, Sports Director:
“This fifth stage ended with a fantastic victory for Milan. The whole team worked really well throughout the day to support him as much as possible. We had great confidence in him and knew he had what it takes to give everything and win again in the final sprint of the week. Well done to him and well done to the whole team!”
