The team was positioned at the front during this first stage to secure bonus seconds; Sam picked up 7 seconds, which already puts him second in the provisional general classification. The team also made its presence felt in the sprint, with our trainee Lorenzo De Longhi finishing in 11th place.

“The whole team worked well today. We set out with a plan to get Sam to the front, pick up the time bonuses and move up the overall standings. We were a bit worried that something might go wrong because of the wind. Sam Maisonobe did brilliantly; he gained 7 seconds and is now second in the provisional general classification. Lorenzo De Longhi was in the sprint and finished 11th. It’s a pretty good start.”
