It was the main objective of the season and they didn’t put a foot wrong! In Huntsville (Alabama, USA) at the World Championships, the Cofidis team showed exceptional consistency and composure. Louis Hubert, Gatien Le Rousseau (time trial) and Eliott Pierre (road race) were crowned world champions, whilst Arthur Bauchet came away with two silver medals. This is the best performance in Cofidis’s history at the Para-cycling World Championships!

Saturday. Three medals to start with

Louis Hubert had enjoyed a golden season so far. As French and European champion, the only thing missing from his collection was a rainbow jersey. He secured it straight away in the time trial, where he won the C3 category in style. A little later, Arthur Bauchet also took to the podium, claiming the silver medal. Shortly afterwards, Gatien Le Rousseau also triumphed in the C4 category!

Monday. A title and a silver medal to round things off

After the time trial, the team shone on the road. Eliott Pierre secured victory with a remarkable display of talent. A fine reward for the rider who joined the Cofidis team this season. Arthur Bauchet, for his part, won a second silver medal. The former skier, who had already made a name for himself at the French championships, is proving that he too has reached a new level.

The Cofidis riders will now enjoy a few well-deserved days off. The rest of the season will take place on the track, starting with the French Track Championships, which will be held from 25 to 27 September at the Stab Vélodrome in Roubaix. It will also mark Arthur’s first appearance on the track! The riders will then head to Apeldoorn, in the Netherlands, for the UCI Track World Championships, which will take place from 29 October to 1 November.

Reactions:

Valérie Alexandre, Sports Director

“I’m really very impressed! Of course, when you compete at the World Championships, you know you have a chance. But I wasn’t expecting us to achieve quite so much: with three world titles and two silver medals, this is the best result in the team’s history at the World Championships! They pushed themselves to the limit, dug deep and found resources within themselves, and they can be proud of what they’ve achieved!

Louis Hubert has lived up to all the hopes we had placed in him. This year, he has won everything: the World Cup and the European Championships. He’s full of confidence, and that showed once again!

Gatien Le Rousseau is our captain. He’s a safe pair of hands, a tireless worker and mentally incredibly strong. To see him constantly improving season after season is really impressive!

Elliot Pierre is the icing on the cake of these Championships! He’s had a difficult season, and yet he never gave up. Elliot didn’t miss his opportunity: he was runner-up at the World Championships last year, and now he’s world champion!

Finally, Arthur Bauchet is an incredible guy. He spends half of his season competing in alpine skiing, takes up cycling in the spring and keeps racking up top finishes. He’s the world number two in his category despite only dedicating half a season to cycling! I’m sure that the more he cycles, the stronger he’ll become. With him, nothing is ever out of reach!”
