Starting the race with a team of four, the Cofidis riders gave it their all to come away with a result. Their positive attitude was highlighted by their sports director, Gaëtan Lemoine.
Gaëtan Lemoine: "It came down to a sprint today with a group of about sixty riders. On our side, we only had four at the start. The girls rode well to absorb the attacks. We really wanted to be on the podium—either for a top finish or a secondary classification. We just missed it, but overall for the day, with just four of us, it’s pretty satisfying. There was a “major” crash just before the circuit that took some of the sprinters out of the race. Valentine Fortin became even more of our main hope after that crash. She made it into the bunch sprint, but it was tough for her to handle it alone against teams with more riders."
