After Stage 6 was canceled due to the weather, Stage 7 of the Tour of Magnificent Qinghai was also heavily impacted. Alexis Renard finished 11th.
The weather is definitely continuing to throw a wrench in the works at the Tour of Magnificent Qinghai. While Stage 6 was canceled on Thursday, on Friday, July 17, 2026, Stage 7 was significantly shortened. Rain and cold temperatures forced the organizers to alter the route and eliminate the climb up Tongbaoshan Mountain, whose summit reaches 4,000 meters. In the end, the riders competed in a flat, fast stage, though still at an altitude of over 3,000 meters. In the sprint finish, Alexis Renard took 11th place.
The reaction
Gorka Gerrikagoitia: “The stage route was changed due to the weather. It was flat. The pace was very fast—the first part on dry roads and the second in the rain and cold. We wanted to get a good result in the sprint with Alexis Renard. But today he didn’t have the legs to secure a better finish.”
