Stage 11 of the Tour de France was set to be a sprinter’s stage, and the peloton’s fastest riders were out in full force in Nevers. In the hometown of our partner Look, the Cofidis team was there as well. Milan Fretin finished just off the podium in the Tour.
Team Cofidis was in action in Nevers. On the 11th stage of the Tour de France—a stage tailor-made for sprinters—on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, the northern French team was eager to make its mark. In the city of their partner Look, Milan Fretin and his teammates came very close to their first podium finish in the race. Our Belgian sprinter finished fourth at the finish line, living up to the expectations placed on him. Following Philipsen’s disqualification, Milan Fretin even secured his first podium finish at the Tour. It was also the first for Team Cofidis in this edition. For our rider, this is already his third top-10 finish in the Tour de France, following an eighth-place finish in Pau (Stage 5) and a tenth-place finish in Bergerac (Stage 8).
[Update - 6:40 p.m.] Philipsen was ultimately reclassified to third place in the stage. Milan Fretin therefore finished fourth in this stage. We’ll have to wait a little longer to see our rider’s first podium finish at the Tour. Perhaps as early as tomorrow (Thursday, July 16, Ed.), during Stage 12 heading to Chalon-sur-Saône. The team is in good form and will be eager to do even better.
The reaction
Milan Fretin: “The road was closed for a very long time, but we were very well organized as a team. They did an excellent job all day. They really supported me and gave me confidence. Jenthe Biermans and Piet Allegaert had a great finish. All in all, with this third-place finish, I think we can be very happy. Great work, even though we didn’t win. Thank you, thank you!”
