Tour of Magnificent Qinghai – Stage 4 – Emanuel Buchmann on the Podium

Emanuel Buchmann is in top form. After finishing ninth on the third stage of the Tour of Magnificent Qinghai, our German rider confirmed his form on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, during the fourth stage. Well-positioned in the group of favorites on the day’s final climb, 60 km from the finish, he made the necessary move to catch up with the leaders in the final ten kilometers. At the finish, his strategy paid off. He finished third on the stage and moved up to second place in the general classification, just 2 seconds behind the yellow jersey. That gives him reason to be ambitious through Saturday and the end of the race.

There was a mountain pass 60 km from the finish that reached an altitude of nearly 4,000 meters. The peloton, with Emanuel Buchmann, crossed the summit about 20 seconds behind the leaders. Emanuel managed to make the move in the final stretch and finished third on the stage. He’s second overall. We lost Paul Ourselin today. He was suffering from severe stomach problems and headaches due to the altitude. Simon Carr, following his crash yesterday, was not fit to start, according to medical advice. We’re down to five riders for the final stages."
