During the final circuit around Pré-en-Pail-Saint-Samson, there was no shortage of attacks. "It was the toughest stage, with 3,700 meters of elevation gain and scorching heat. I’m very, very proud of the team today. We raced very well. Like yesterday, I didn’t want us to expend too much energy, so we tried to protect Clément Izquierdo and Eduardo Zamperini as best we could. In the end, Clément came out on top, but we knew that—we were counting on him; he was our leader, and he had a fantastic race.
I think there was still a chance to go for the podium today on this stage, but I’m very, very proud of him. Now he’s fourth overall, and we’re going to figure out how we can make it to the podium. "
