Maxime Vezie, a rising star of French cycling, to join Cofidis in 2028!

The Cofidis team is proud to announce that Maxime Vezie will be joining them in 2028. At 20, the Breton continues to impress, having recently finished 3rd in the Tour de Bretagne and 3rd in the Boucles de l’Aulne. After another season with his current team, CIC Pro Cycling Academy, he will join the Cofidis team in 2028.

Cycling enthusiasts have already heard his name. Better still, they have been keen to follow his progress closely throughout this season, during which he has competed against the professionals. Finishing 3rd in Paris-Camembert and 3rd in the Boucles de l’Aulne, Maxime also came close to the ‘top 10’ in the 4 Days of Dunkirk (11th in the first stage). The CIC Pro Cycling Academy rider also made his mark by finishing close to the ‘top 20’, coming 21st in the Étoile de Bessèges (4th stage), the Grand Prix de Denain (21st) and the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs (21st). Furthermore, he made a particularly strong impression at the Tour de Bretagne in late April, finishing 3rd in the general classification and 2nd in the best young rider classification.

A meteoric rise to the very top

Maxime Vezie was born and raised in Saint-Malo. In his younger years, he initially took up mountain biking and enjoyed his first successes, notably becoming the Brittany Minime champion. He then competed in several cyclo-cross races before discovering road racing whilst riding for his club at the time, VC Pays de Loudéac. It was in Brittany, in fact, that he claimed victory twice last year, at the Ronde Finistérienne and then at the Circuit des 2 Provinces. The young talent, who describes himself as a puncher, knows that there is still a long way to go to reach the very top level. In particular, he aims to hone his climbing skills in order to become a fully-fledged puncher.

After another season with CIC Pro Cycling Academy in 2027, Maxime will therefore join Cofidis the following year (2028). He says he is proud to be joining “a historic team in the peloton”, having also been “impressed by Raphaël Jeune’s words”.

They said

Maxime Vezie:

“I’m really looking forward to what lies ahead, to having the chance to keep improving next year at CIC Pro Cycling Academy before taking the plunge with Cofidis. I’m a rider who loves rough, undulating terrain; I see myself primarily as a puncher. I didn’t expect to achieve such results among the professionals this year. But I still want to improve, particularly in the mountains, to become stronger and more well-rounded. It was also important to me to join a French team. Cofidis is a fantastic team, a historic outfit in the peloton. I was impressed by Raphael (Jeune)’s words and I really like the team’s current line-up. I’d like to extend my warmest thanks to Anthony Ravard and Cédric Barre, general manager and sports director of CIC Pro Cycling Academy, who placed their trust in me and allowed me to be a leader at such a young age in their great team.”

Raphaël Jeune, General Manager:
“We are very proud to welcome Maxime from 2028 onwards. We are delighted to have him join the team and to provide him with the means to thrive at the highest level and live up to his ambitions. Maxime will be able to continue to develop whilst riding for CIC Pro Cycling Academy – whose commitment and professionalism I commend – where he has already demonstrated his full potential. I am convinced that the coming months and the 2027 season will be invaluable for him to continue on this path and keep reaching new heights. And we at Cofidis are delighted to be able to look forward to a bright future for his career alongside him.”
