In a typically Dutch race, Team Cofidis played their sprint card with Martina Alzini. The Italian finished 6th in the bunch sprint in the Netherlands, claiming her 3rd top 10 of the season.

On a flat, wind-exposed course, the race was first animated by a nine-rider breakaway early on, before the peloton regained control. A crash 35 km from the finish split the group. A lone attacker then tried her luck, but was caught inside the final 3 km. The peloton reset for a bunch sprint, where Martina Alzini, well supported by her teammates, managed to find her position and cross the line in 6th place.

Reaction from DS Gaëtan Lemoine:

"All in all, a solid team effort. We had a bit of a scare early on when a group of nine riders got away without us, but we managed to bring things back together with the help of another team that was also caught out. After that, it was a long chase behind a lone leader. We had decided to protect Martina for the sprint, while staying active until 10 km to go, covering every move and trying to be as aggressive as possible. But Fenix-Premier Tech and Visma Lease a Bike locked things down for their sprinters. Martina finishes 6th in a sprint won by Charlotte Kool. The girls were in the thick of it all day, as offensive as we wanted to be. It's a good start to the weekend, now let's keep that momentum going and do even better in the races to come."
