The Flèche Wallonne Women started from Huy over a 143 km course, with the race coming down to the mythical Mur de Huy on the second and final ascent. It is worth noting that Nikola Nosková, who crashed on Sunday, did not start today.

The race was animated from the outset with two breakaways and a counter-group of nine riders. The peloton regrouped at 60 km to go before a leading duo held on until 10 km from the finish, eventually caught at 7 km to go. A selective finale then played out at the top of the Mur de Huy to decide the final standings.

In the peloton, Julie Bego and Ema Comte represented Cofidis' colours until the end. Julie Bego crosses the line in 30th place.

Reaction from Sports Director Gaetan Lemoine:

“This was a very fast race throughout the day. We had three cards to play with Mijntje Geurts, Ema Comte and Julie Bego. We showed a strong performance up to the first passage of the Mur de Huy, with Ema and Julie in the main group of around forty riders.

Unfortunately, we struggled in the final lap and couldn’t match the best on the Côte de Cherave and on the Mur de Huy. We’re naturally a bit disappointed — we had hoped for better. But we remain motivated and hope to do better on Sunday.”
