Between Beersel and Overijse, the 162.6 kilometers of the 2026 Brabantse Pijl delivered a nervous and unpredictable race, featuring 21 climbs and a demanding final circuit. The Moskestraat, tackled three times, made the difference before a reduced sprint at the top of the S-Bocht.

For Team Cofidis, Sam Maisonobe went on the attack with around 40 kilometers to go before being caught. Bryan Coquard and Dylan Teuns, delayed by a crash with 30 kilometers remaining, saw their chances compromised.

As a leading group looked set to fight for the win, the gap was closed in the final hectometers, leading to a bunch sprint for victory.

Next up on Sunday: the first Ardennes Classic, the Amstel Gold Race.

Sports director’s reaction, Sébastien Demarbaix :

“The early part of the race was marked by a breakaway of six riders that went clear quickly, with the peloton controlling the gap until the final circuit.

As expected, things really kicked off once we entered the circuit. Valentin Ferron and Sam Maisonobe were both active and showed themselves at the front.

With around 30 kilometers to go, a crash disrupted the race. We unfortunately lost Dylan Teuns and Bryan Coquard. They didn’t crash themselves, but were forced to stop, which ended their race.

In the final, with about 15 kilometers remaining, a strong group of six riders went clear, opening a gap of around 30 seconds. The peloton eventually came back together in the final kilometer.

Unfortunately, neither Valentin Ferron nor Sam Maisonobe were able to contest the sprint. Sam spent a lot of energy during the race, but he showed he is in good condition.”
