After an animated stage between Maine-et-Loire and Loire-Atlantique, the race ended in a bunch sprint in Vertou. Bryan Coquard finished 11th.
Starting from Fontevraud-l’Abbaye, the peloton went through the Saumur vineyards before tackling the rolling terrain of the Mauges. A breakaway of seven riders led the early part of the race but was never a real threat.
In the final, Benjamin Thomas and then Sam Maisonobe tried to break away, but their attacks were brought back.
Despite the warm conditions, the peloton stayed in control until the finish. Bryan Coquard took 11th place, with the team focused on the next stages.
Reaction from sports director Benjamin Giraud :
“We had a very attacking team in the final circuit. It eventually came down to a bunch sprint, with Bryan Coquard finishing 11th after being slightly hindered in the sprint. He could have aimed for a better result. The whole team finished on the same time, with the goal of targeting a strong overall classification by the end of stage four.”
