Bad luck struck repeatedly and cost the team dearly.

A day marked by bad luck

250 kilometres from Middelkerke, the crosswinds of De Moeren, the Plugstreets and the Kemmelberg climbed three times, including a decisive ascent that blew the race apart. On this tough terrain, Camille Charret, 19-year-old neo-pro, impressed by making it into the eight-man early breakaway, caught with around sixty kilometres to go.

The rest of the day was harder. A crash for Piet Allegaert, a mechanical for Dylan Teuns. In the finale, Alexis Renard was in the front group before also going down, ending what had been a promising race for him.

Sports director Sébastien Hinault:

"A tough day. It started well with Camille Charret in the breakaway. Then we had our share of bad luck. We lost Piet Allegaert to a crash, Dylan Teuns had a mechanical. In the front group, we had Alexis Renard, who unfortunately also crashed. Pretty frustrating."
