A top 20 finish for Malwina Mul, but a frustrating day for Team Cofidis at In Flanders Fields Women, with several crashes mid-race disrupting the team's plans.
135 kilometres around Wevelgem, the Plugstreets, the Kemmelberg and its two sides, a demanding course that made the selection from the first exposed sectors. Mid-race, Malwina Mul and Valentine Fortin were caught in crashes, complicating the rest of their day.
Despite this, Victoire Berteau and Malwina Mul responded well in the decisive part of the race. Mul finishes 20th, present in the chase group until the end.
Team director's reaction:
"We started the day well, but mid-race we were caught in some crashes, particularly Malwina Mul and Valentine Fortin. We hit the decisive section in a less than ideal position, but Victoire Berteau and Malwina Mul were able to respond physically. Overall, a slightly frustrating day with a lack of luck. We move on quickly now, next up is NXT and the Tour of Flanders next week."
