A strong team display for Team Cofidis at Roue Tourangelle. Four riders in the decisive breakaway, an offensive team from start to finish, but a sprint that just fell short of the podium.
Team Cofidis delivered a solid team effort at Roue Tourangelle. Over a demanding race, 201 kilometres from Château-Renault to Tours, a cobbled sector in Villandry and the Épan climb tackled twice in the finale, the team managed to be at the front when it mattered.
Yaël Joalland was in the early breakaway and stayed strong throughout the day. In the finale, Clément Izquierdo, Benjamin Thomas and Bryan Coquard joined him, putting four Cofidis riders in the leading group. In the sprint, Bryan Coquard finishes 4th.
Sports director Evaldas Šiškevicius:
"The start was quite fast and six riders got away with Yaël Joalland. He had a great race today, he was really strong and helped the team in the finale. The team waited for the final as planned. We tried to shake things up on the first laps of the finishing circuit. We ended up with four riders at the front. They did almost everything perfectly, we launched Bryan Coquard a little too early, and he was beaten by three riders on the line. We showed an offensive team."
