After a nervous opening stage, the peloton headed back onto the plains between Épône and Montargis for a 187kilometre day clearly suited to the sprinters.

Early in the stage, two riders went up the road to contest the King of the Mountains points. Behind them, the peloton quickly took control without increasing the pace too much. As a result, the bunch arrived relatively fresh into a fast and technical finale in the streets of Montargis.

At the end of this tense sprint, Bryan Coquard finished 12th on stage 2.

Protected for the sprint, Milan Fretin was unable to fight for the win. Boxed in inside the final 800 metres and forced to avoid a crash, he immediately informed the team via radio and asked Bryan Coquard to go for the sprint.

Reaction Bingen Fernandez, Sports Director :

“Today was clearly a stage for the sprinters. Early in the race, two riders went in the break to fight for the King of the Mountains jersey, and the peloton controlled behind them. The pace was not very high, so everyone was quite fresh heading into the finale.

For the sprint, we were riding for Milan Fretin. In the last 800 metres, he got boxed in and had to avoid a crash. He informed us on the radio and told Bryan to go. Bryan Coquard sprinted and finished 12th.”

The team now looks ahead to the next opportunities on the Race to the Sun.
