In their first race wearing the new jersey, the team was omnipresent, attacking numerous times. Everything ultimately came down to the sprint, where Jenthe Biermans took 4th place.
The team's first race wearing their new jerseys following Cofidis' rebranding was run with determination, team spirit and pride.
The riders gave their all to get him to the top of the podium. In the last 50 kilometres, Hugo Page and Alexis Renard were the first to join a group of about fifteen riders who held off the peloton for a long time. Despite constantly pushing the pace, Alexis and Hugo were unable to count on the support of the others, and the group was eventually caught.
In the final, Dylan Teuns took the reins of the peloton, trying to get Jenthe Biermans into a good position. On the last cobbled section, Alexis again tried to follow the attacks, then under the red flag, Hugo gave it his all to catch up with the leader, but without success. In the end, the GP Samyn was decided in a bunch sprint, with Jenthe Biermans finishing in 4th place, slightly boxed in during the last 500 metres but still managing a strong comeback.
This result does not reward the dedication of a whole group, determined to have a successful Flanders racing campaign.
Quotes
Sébastien Demarbaix :
"Hugo and Alexis took their chance 50 kilometres from the finish line. Both rode very well. I had asked Hugo to focus on the final and to do less than Alexis, who also needed to tire out the peloton behind. In the final, we were very present with four riders still at the front. And with 1.5 km to go, Hugo made one last attempt, as we had spotted that this could be the right moment. Jenthe then finished fourth in the sprint, well supported by Dylan and Stan. Jan Maas also worked hard during the first three hours of the race. We didn't get the win, but I'm proud of the performance of the whole team, who are in good shape. On the bus, they were all aware of the quality of their race and it will pay off very soon, they are in good shape."
