The Cofidis team once again played a leading role in the fourth stage of the Ruta Del Sol – Vuelta A Andalusia. Alex Aranburu took fourth place on the day.

After Milan Fretin's victory the day before, the fourth stage of the Ruta Del Sol – Vuelta A Andalusia was once again set to be a sprinter's race on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Between Montoro and Pozoblanco, the Cofidis team took charge behind the three breakaway riders of the day. Working together, they did everything they could to put their Belgian sprinter in the best possible position. Unfortunately, Milan Fretin was unable to find an opening to make his sprint. Alex Aranburu, who had been vigilant throughout the day, came close to winning bonus points at the finish. He finished 4th in the stage and is now 10th in the general classification at the end of the day.

This Sunday, February 22, the final stage could suit the qualities of our Spanish rider, who will be aiming to improve his position in the general classification.

Bingen Fernandez, team DS: "Today was another great opportunity for the sprinters. We started with the idea of having a sprint. A small breakaway of three guys got away. Groupama-FDJ United did a great job controlling the race and trying to take the bonifications during the Golden Kilometer. Grégoire took 5 seconds. We weren't able to take the bonifications with Alex Aranburu. We tried to take them but in the end we didn't succeed. During the sprint, we lost Milan Fretin in the team at the last roundabout. He wasn't able to sprint as he would have liked. However, we finished fourth in the stage with Alex, but it was a photo finish. We missed out on the bonification by a few millimeters. Tonight we are fourth in the stage and tenth overall."
