Decidedly, this Autumn Giro is like no other. After having confronted the heights of Stelvio and the snowy roads, the riders found the rain again. And the rain was so intense that the stage was shortened by 100 kilometers.
Up to 7 min 30 sec. ahead of time
So, the peloton took the road again in Abbiategrasso to cover 124,5 km. Attacks began quickly. Nathan Haas and Marco Mathis, on the watch, managed to integrate the breakaway of the day. The breakaway counted more than 7 min 30 sec of advantage over the peloton. At the finish, Nathan and Marco were in the 'top 15', in 11th and 14th place respectively.
Tomorrow, the road will rise again on the Giro with the last mountain stage. On the agenda: three successive climbs of Sestrières with 190 km to go. At the end of this day, the riders will finally be able to reach Milan and celebrate the end of a particularly demanding Giro.
