GIRO D'ITALIA - STAGE 6 THE MASSIVE SPRINT OF BRINDISI IN FOCUS !

After a particularly tiring stage, the riders took to the road again this Thursday with a much better weather. All are now focused on their next goal: to allow Elia Viviani to shine in tomorrow's massive sprint in Brindisi.

Certainly, no two days are the same on the Giro. Yesterday, the riders had to deal with rain and fog to get through the 5th stage. And this Thursday, the skies were completely clear during the 188 km between Castrovillari and Matera.
The Cofidis riders controlled their endeavour in the peloton throughout the day. Simone Consonni tried his luck in the final but a slight placement error prevented him from competing in the final sprint.

1,200 meters of straight road before the finish line
From now on, the riders of Cofidis will start to prepare for tomorrow's stage. Indeed, at the end of the 143 km that separate Matera from Brindisi, the stage should end with a massive sprint. It will be necessary to succeed to get the best placement in the last couple of kilometres before the last turn at 1,200 meters from the finish.
Elia Viviani, 5th in the first sprint of this Giro in Villafranca Tirrena, hopes to make the most of it. And like last Tuesday, his teammates will do everything to put him in the best possible position.
